Being a princess is boring, demanding and gives you no profits. That is, other than inheriting the kingdom, of course. So Wisteria does the only thing a rich girl whose all needs have always been satisfied can do: she rebels. Unfortunately, her rebellion resembles more killing boredom with drinking than, say, fighting for democracy, but you have to start somewhere. To be fair, she could even fight for democracy if someone suggested it to her as an entertaining activity.

Grihm is a philosopher-Fool who is sensitive to life's absurdities but finds them depressing rather than funny. He's Wisteria's best friend and the only companion and she's the only reason why he doesn't manage to stay as distanced from the castle's disturbances as he would like. His professional career is seriously hampered by his lack of sense of humor.

Touched by the injustice happening to the poor and vulnerable, the Dark Knight has made helping the helpless her full-time occupation. It's not a great sacrifice as she would choose a good fight over socializing any time. And it IS difficult to eat with your mouth covered.

Tall, dark and mysterious, Rodrig enjoys the position of the court's enigma. To all the unsympathetic, and mostly male, observers he is a spoilt nobleman who abuses his priviledges. To all the ladies, there's more to Rodrig than meets the eye, though what meets the eye is very satisfactory too.

Cahlina is a paragon of a true princess: she's mild, polite and accepts the fact that her only job is to look good. She never questions any rules and not only is happy to fulfil them all but also will gladly inform about anyone else's rule-breaking.

Position in the castle: Prince, visiting the castle

As an enlightened prince, Florian has many varied interests, his hair, clothes, himself, hair conditioners, himself, shiny things and himself being just a few. Busy with his hobbies, he's not easily disturbed by anything else going on around him and it's surely only mean gossip that he is simply incapable of understanding anything else.

Aunt Godeve is the institution in the castle. Not only does she influence the King's policy but also is responsible for the proper behavior of the younger generation. She is all too aware of imperfections in both fields, which results in frustration, headaches and malicious remarks.

The royal couple incarnate everything people associate with rulers: good manners, benevolence, excessive suspiciousness. When they don't worry over the poor's fate and conspiracies, they enjoy courtly games, feasts and overdrawn conversations.
